My brother-in-law, Mike Derus, is running at-large for commissioner of Minneapolis Parks and Recreation.

Mike comes from a legacy. His father is John Derus, former Hennepin County Board Chair, serving on the board for 17 years and has had a hand in a number of prominent developments in Minneapolis.

Mike wanted to follow in his father's legacy, but still stand on his own ground in making developments and improvements in Minneapolis parks. Mike's voice of reason, knowledge and passionate viewpoints and love for the city's parks sets him a part from other candidates in the running. 

As far as his brand, we wanted something bold, ownable, parks-relatable and a new refreshing perspective in a sea of political designs. Wanted to bring a small nod to the campaign Mike's dad ran in the 70s and have some small influences in Mike's 2017 parks campaign.
