Riverfront Fest

I am happy to be a sponsor of the 3rd annual Riverfront Festival. The free event is taking place Friday July 31st, at Ole Olson Park in Minneapolis.

The Riverfront Fest is run by the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership, a nonprofit organization that is helping to revitalize the Mississippi riverfront. To do this they are creating efforts to make the riverfront more available to the public to engage in and realize the opportunities.

Personally, I have come to love and appreciate the river more and more. Jax and I just moved  to the St. Anthony Main area in the Marcy Holmes neighborhood. The area is home of the historic cobblestone Main Street, running along the Mississippi river, right by Saint Anthony Falls. We’ve had a blast exploring all the trails, parks, dog-friendly cafes and scenic beauty around the area. It’s definitely an adventure every day.

I was happy to donate some design and creative services for the Riverfront Festival—posters, tickets, postcards and banners. This event, in its third year, happens to land on a night for a blue moon. There will be food trucks, live music, local craft beers, and lots of kids activities. A big highlight is that there will be a boat ballet—an elegant presentation of boat “dancers” on the river. These dancers are not traditional ballerinas, but rather, boats ranging from kayaks, racing scullls, vintage yachts and pontoons. I’m excited to check it out!

Hope to see you there! Here are the details:

A big thanks to Mike, my brother-in-law, who introduced me to this sponsorship, and serves on the board of the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership. Mike was also the writer for quite a few Six Word Stories (665, 465, 442, 377), and was my Haiku-writing partner in Haikuglyphics.
