City Guide

A big thanks to TypeCon and the Society of Typographic Aficionados for bringing me on to create the official city guide for all attendees of the 2019 TypeCon event in Minneapolis.

This guide was meant to be for attendees visiting from other cities and countries that may have never been to Minneapolis. Even if you have been here, I wanted to provide a reminder of all the great or new places we have. The event had a full schedule, but that still allowed time for grabbing coffee, lunch, or for any outings during the evenings. I wanted to provide a range of options.

I sorted through what typographic-loving creatives might love best about our city, providing a range of options scattered throughout.

I created a system that sorted all of these places, from coffee, to food, to specialties, to drinks, and fun. Within each category they were sorted with a mile-marker symbol showing the distance away from the TypeCon event, along with the price range, neighborhood, plus short and sweet descriptions.

Thanks to the writers who helped with some of the fun and playful descriptions:

Loved making this guide. I’m glad I was able to make use of all these lists of noteworthy places around the city that I’ve been keeping for so many years. Seemed like the perfect project! I still love finding great gems, and quirky things around town. Looking to make more guides like this, or weirder than this, in the future. Let’s chat!
